President Bush’s news conference

President Bush did a great job of breaking the Iraq issue down to a single question: "Has the Iraqi régime fully and unconditionally disarmed as required by Resolution 1441 or has it not?"

Despite the obvious answer, I suspect that very few will have been swayed by this Q&A session.  Sadly, Bush did a wee bit of tap dancing in some areas and would have been well served had he spent a little more time pressing the facts and the succinct question facing the world (as noted above).

Even if his reasoning behind pushing for war is questionable at best, the UN's lack of fortitude on the Iraqi situation for the last several years needs to be resolved.  If America has to force the world's hand, then so be it.  I suspect we'll find that the atrocities have continued and that the UN's various programs with Iraq are being subjugated and bastardized by Iraqis and others.
