We were too incompatible

You may remember an entry from last summer — a letter I wrote to someone I dated for some time while in high school. I wrote that letter because, after I broke up with him, he literally badgered me to get back together. I broke up with him for very good reasons, so that wasn't going to happen. Despite the first letter, he continued pushing me to date him again. This is the second letter I wrote hoping it would help him understand why getting back together wasn't an option — at least not at that time.
If we were to talk, what would we say?
Too much has been said already.
Too much has been done on both our parts.
We tried.
It simply didn't work.
We were too incompatible.
I worshiped you once.
Everything you touched was gold.
I lived on your every word.
If we had been innocent, it might have worked.
But we weren't.
You were emotionally distant.
I was emotionally involved.
Perhaps later in life, further down the road, it might work.
But, for now, I shall live off of your memory.
