South Asia earthquake

Current estimates place the death toll at 3000 from this morning's 7.6-magnitude earthquake in Pakistan, and that is a preliminary estimate just for the North West Frontier Province and Kashmir.  There are at present more than 1,300 confirmed dead.  In one case, 400 children were killed when two schools collapsed in Mansehra, Pakistan.

The epicenter of the quake was 60 miles (97 km) north-northeast of Islamabad.  Damage and deaths have been reported in Pakistan, Afghanistan, India, and the disputed territory of Kashmir.

I'd like to extend my heartfelt sympathy and expression of solidarity with all of those affected.  We will help, of course, as that is what we do both as Americans and as humans.  I wish only the best for those impacted, those who have lost loved ones, those whose homes and livelihoods have been injured.
