Lonnie Latham’s yet another religious hypocrite

Lonnie Latham is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Executive Committee.  He’s also an outspoken critic of homosexuals and an ardent supporter of repressing them.

He has also spoken out against same-sex marriage and in support of a Southern Baptist Convention directive urging its 42,000 churches to befriend gays and lesbians and try to convince them that they can become heterosexual “if they accept Jesus Christ as their savior and reject their ‘sinful, destructive lifestyle.”‘

It is therefore with great amusement and the opportunity to cite yet more religious hypocrisy that he was arrested recently on lewdness charges.  What did he do?  He propositioned a male police officer for oral sex.

Huh.  Isn’t that interesting.  Of course, he claims he “was set up. [He] was in the area pastoring to police.”  Um, sure you were.  As a gay man, I hadn’t realized we now called that “pastoring.”  I guess I’m more religious than I thought…
