The 35th Skeptics’ Circle was prepared by a guest blogger this time around.  The bonehead has been trying to hijack the pseudonym of an already well-known blogger, Skeptico, and that’s who was to host this edition.  The faker was invited to prepare the carnival and did so using his anti-science, creationist point of view.  Despite his ramblings throughout, the circus is replete with excellent critical thinking.  Go for the posts that are linked, but ignore the religious nonsense and fake science in his babblings.  Go get your doubt on.

A new study indicates chocolate is good for the brain, essentially boosting brain power.  Need I say more?

I and the Bird #24 is available and has all the latest avian news from around the blogosphere.  The presentation is phenomenal: the carnival host used his own original artwork to represent each entry.  Very cool.

Check out this photo of Saturn and its moon, Janus.  The perspective is a nearly edge-on view of the rings with Janus, the tiny little dot, hovering just below the paper-thin ring system.  Also note the ring shadows cast on Saturn at the top of the photo.

Thanks to Norbizness and his stupid blogiversary thing, I’ve discovered a new blog that has had me sitting here laughing uproariously for half an hour.  The blog is PunkAssBlog.com.  It’s already become a regular source of mental input for me.  To understand why, go read Online dating advice for taste-impaired men everywhere.  It will definitely tickle your funny bone.  Go; do as I say.  Yes, I realize it seems dauntingly protracted, so set aside a few minutes to read it.  Good stuff.

We’re making progress on the cloaking device technology.  This is getting rather interesting, although we are a long way from having a usable version.  Still…  The initial concept, based on use of “metamaterials,” would be used “to cloak an object and hide it from visible light, infrared light, microwaves and perhaps even sonar probes.”  We’re goin’ Romulan!

Friday Ark #88 is up and has the best animal news from around the blogosphere.  Remember, the Ark is updated Friday through Sunday, so check back often for new posts.
