I and the Bird #27 is the first anniversary edition and is full of the best of wild bird blogging.

It’s the man whose skull fell off.  I mean that quite literally.  That’s very bizarre, and not a little bit disturbing.  Holds his head in his hands indeed…

You absolutely must go watch this video of the male lyrebird.  For courtship purposes, it sings the most complex song possible, and it builds that song from everything it hears—including other birds, cameras, car alarms, and chain saws and hand saws.  It’s spectacular to listen to how well he mimics the noises he hears (enough to fool other bird species!).  [via Biomes Blog]
