As our ever growing conservative ideology rushes us down the road of selfishness, intolerance, bigotry, and petty hatreds, the only thing the Religious Right has done about it is to raise the speed limit.

Can this maladministration be honest about anything?

I’m not sure we can even trust they’re giving us their real names…  To wit:

The State Department agency in charge of $1.4 billion in reconstruction money in Iraq used an accounting shell game to hide ballooning cost overruns on its projects there and knowingly withheld information on schedule delays from Congress, a federal audit released late Friday has found.

The agency hid construction overruns by listing them as overhead or administrative costs, according to the audit, written by the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction, an independent office that reports to Congress, the Pentagon and the State Department.

At least now we know where Enron et al. got the inspiration for such creative accounting.  It’s nice to see that big-business mentality truly is the driving force behind this bunch of losers.  Let’s not mention the irony inherent in this given the same administration pushed for new laws to make such activities illegal and highly punishable in the business world.

Oh, and so much for the executive branch being accountable to the legislative branch.  Congress can not perform its constitutional duty in this regard so long as the president and his team are so blatantly dishonest and intentionally deceptive.
