It’s the Hallowe’en edition of Weekend Cat Blogging.

Oh my goodness gracious!  Americans actually get it.  “Despite complaints about ‘activist judges’ from both the right and the left following controversial rulings, two-thirds of Americans do not believe elected officials should have more control over federal judges, according to a new CNN poll released Saturday. Sixty-seven percent of 1,013 people surveyed by Opinion Research Corp. on behalf of CNN said federal judges — and the decisions they make — should not be subject to more control.”  Now let’s hope they start sharing that opinion with their elected officials.

Another kitty cleaning another animal.  This time it’s a ferret, and again I have to say I’m not too certain how the ferret is feeling about it—other than resigned to take whatever comes.

This video is fantastic for three very specific reasons.

I’ve known about the major concerns for black cats during the Hallowe’en season but it never hurts to be reminded.  They don’t get adopted, they shouldn’t be let outside (ever, but especially black cats around Hallowe’en), and they should be carefully protected.

How cute is this comparison of then and now?  Same sink; same cat; big difference.

Don’t miss Carnival of the Godless #52.  It’s the Hallowe’en edition of an atheism carnival.  I mean, can you get any more hell-bent?  I think not.

I don’t know how anyone could ignore this: GAO chief warns economic disaster looms.  “David M. Walker sure talks like he’s running for office. ‘This is about the future of our country, our kids and grandkids,’ the comptroller general of the United States warns a packed hall at Austin’s historic Driskill Hotel. ‘We the people have to rise up to make sure things get changed.’ But Walker doesn’t want, or need, your vote this November. He already has a job as head of the Government Accountability Office, an investigative arm of Congress that audits and evaluates the performance of the federal government. Basically, that makes Walker the nation’s accountant-in-chief. And the accountant-in-chief’s professional opinion is that the American public needs to tell Washington it’s time to steer the nation off the path to financial ruin.”  Keep in mind this man’s job is guaranteed through 2013, so he has no political ax to grind.  His opinion is America is about to hit financial bottom and will suffer a terrible economic disaster if the government doesn’t change its spending habits.

I really like this tale from Chris Clarke explaining the adoption of his dog Zeke.  It’s heartfelt.
