Vocabularium

This is an idiom I use often and one you might have seen here from time to time.

turn of phrase (turn of phrase): / turn uhv freyz /
noun

(1) a particular way of saying something; an idiom; an expression; a figure of speech

[Coined from English. The usage dates back to the 1600s and alludes to the turning or shaping of objects (as on a lathe).]

Usage: One often uses the turn of phrase “it’ll take me a million years” to infer a task requires a significant amount of time to complete.
