Long after the singer is gone

Can you hear it? It is the inaudible sound carried upon the wind like so many leaves. Rustling along paved footpaths, tumbling over and around whatever obstacles there might be; it is a beckoning and tugging, a silent touch that sings volumes.
Despite the many songs my life has bellowed into the empty breeze, voice drifted on air’s wings as a hawk might circle high above on invisible thermals, only one tune from many resists the influences of period and pain. My wish is to share that refrain with you. The others matter not.
My heart carols lyrics that will linger long after the singer is gone. Within its own infinite truth rests all my hope. Stanza after stanza writes upon the sky that which can be known only by you and yet is for all the world to see. The message I want to share; the truth I give to no more than you.
Like a bird with a broken wing, my spirit longs to take flight. Far too many seasons I spent hobbled and afraid, limping restlessly from emotion to emotion. Then you touched my broken wing and gave me the sky. My song is for you.
I sing of a love that is alive. Just as you opened my eyes and gave me faith to see, I open the door and welcome you with divine devotion. Care and affection seem feeble words compared to the overwhelming sincerity that burns within me. Truth is hidden amongst the flames, a revelation so vast and profound it eclipses the sun hanging overhead.
Though the melody might change, and though the descant make itself unheard when shrouded by tears and time, you need only open your eyes as you taught me to do. The chorus continues to live on and one within me. Likewise, it will forever dwell within you. Touch the notes as they reach out to you. I will be there.
