Space shuttle lights up the night sky: This is a very cool photo of the Discovery launch on Saturday, December 9.

Here’s your fuckin’ war on drugs.  Pathetic.  How do you think that child—a goddamned child!—will feel having had a police escort to the bathroom, and to have to tend his personal business with the door open and a cop standing over him?  Huh?  America’s War on Drugs™ is a joke, a revolting violation of common sense and decency.  Explain to me why there are more drugs on the street and more people using them now than ever before… I mean, if we’re spending billions on this war, WHY THE FUCK HASN’T IT WORKED—AT ALL!?!?  I reiterate what I’ve said before: Stop it.  Decriminalize currently illicit drugs; legalize marijuana at least, several others at best; spend that money and time and effort on more reasonable and useful endeavors; stop abusing people; clear out the jails of minor drug offenders so there’s room for real criminals; stop killing people senselessly; stop abusing people needlessly; if you won’t criminalize alcohol, which kills innumerable people each year whereas marijuana kills NONE!, let’s move on and be smart about this; marijuana was legal in this country until prohibition; make it so again; get off the ignorant moral high horse when it comes to people enjoying themselves without endangering others; kick the conservatism to the curb in this case and be real and intelligent.  [via Apostropher]

Chris talks about losing Zeke and wonders if he missed a step or two.  How very normal.  I’ve said many a time: To live and love a pet, only to lose them, and to do it over and over again is the pinnacle of humanity.  It is not a cold heart that fears not the loss; it is the love of knowing, as he points out, that so much has been experienced and enjoyed already, so how can one question it.  Feel the loss when it happens; enjoy the life while you can.
