Vocabularium

I’ve known many in my lifetime.  In fact, one need only look at most business executives and politicians to find ample representations of this word.

panjandrum (pan·jan·drum): / pan JAN druhm /
noun

(1) a pompous, pretentious, overbearing, or self-important person, especially one of rank or an official

[Nonsense word (“Grand Panjandrum”) coined by Samuel Foote (1720-1777), an English actor and dramatist.]

Usage: The entire board came across as one bombastic panjandrum after another.
