Vocabularium

verdant (ver·dant): / VUR dnt /
adjective

(1) green with lush vegetation; covered with growing plants and heavy foliage
(2) of a green tint or color
(3) naïve; unsophisticated; lacking experience or judgment

[From Middle French verdoyant meaning “green,” from Old French verdeant, the present participle of verdoyer meaning “to be or become green,” from Vulgar Latin viridiare from Latin viridis meaning “green,” from virere meaning “to be green.”]

Usage: [via] But during late autumn and winter months it paints a very different picture, a naked congregation of trunks and limbs punctuated with evergreen bushes, a reminder of the stark reality hidden behind verdant tapestries seen throughout the rest of the year.
