Vocabularium

I have a list of people in my head that can be described this way…

feckless (feck·less): / FEK lis /
adjective

(1) unable or unwilling to do anything fruitful or useful; futile; ineffective; incompetent
(2) unlikely to succeed; having no sense of responsibility; worthless; lazy; indifferent; irresponsible

[From Scottish ‘feck’ meaning “value, meaning, effect,” from Middle English (Scots) ‘fek’, an alteration of Middle English ‘effect.’]

Usage: A friend told me recently of some lame company’s feckless attempts to fix a plumbing problem.
