Carnival of the Dogs offers all the canine chaos you can handle.  Go dig around a bit and I’m sure you’ll find something to bark about.

Carnival of the Cats #164 and Weekend Cat Blogging offer more feline fun than you can purr at.  Check them out and see if you come away without at least a hairball to show for it.

Birds in the News 83 (v3n10) celebrates International Migratory Bird Day.  Go wing your way through a great collection of avian news from around the globe.

What a great story, but I’m left wondering how the cat survived and how it will do in the future.  To wit: “After Eric Congdon opened a crate from China and discovered a cat inside, coming up with a name for the furry stowaway was easy. China the cat had chewed through one of the boxes before it left Shanghai, China, on April 3 and spent at least 35 days on a ship inside the container filled with motorcycle gear.”  That’s right: 35 days without food or water, yet the cat survived.  I hope life gets much better after this.

This is a great photographic and written celebration of a cat rescued from a life outside where it already had suffered tremendously.

Can you guess what I’m going to talk about next?  Yes, the ongoing food contamination investigation and recall.

Yet more pet food brands have been added to the list.  If you’re not regularly checking the FDA’s page, you should be.

You’ll also note the government is telling us the human foods contaminated to date are safe to eat—from what they know.  Dare I remind you they still don’t know what’s killing the pets and making them sick?  Melamine doesn’t explain it.  The other chemicals found so far don’t either.  Yet we’re to believe the pork, chicken, and fish so far identified as also contaminated are somehow safe for human consumption?
