Unforgivably remiss

I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to xocobra and LD for hosting me last weekend.  My apparent lack of manners notwithstanding, my visit with them entailed a great deal of enjoyment as usual.

But more so than the visit, more even than spending time with two splendid and loved friends whose company I can never grow tired of, they deserve an even greater thanks for their unyielding consideration.

You see, given my transition to a mostly vegan lifestyle this year, I have focused tremendous effort on doing what I feel is right and necessary—but doing so without transgressing on common courtesy and respect.  I tend to be adaptive when it comes to dining with others.  That is to say, I demonstrate plasticity with regards to imposing my views on others in this matter.

If meat and animal products are the main course, I focus on whatever else is available.  But I don’t make people go out of their way to accommodate me.  My choices are my choices, not theirs.

So I shared with Jenny prior to my visit the heartfelt glee I experienced when xocobra told me on the phone that he was planning a gracious dinner that would not put me on the hungry end of the table.

And let me tell you, poppets, that he and LD did a most amazing job!

I dined like a king.  With grilled vegetables and fresh salad and a litany of goodies fit for royalty, I stepped away from the table feeling as though an expert chef had been hired to cater specifically to my needs.

Marvelous, it was!  Fantastic!

I cannot thank them enough for such thoughtfulness.  The effort was herculean . . . at least in my mind, and they succeeded with nary a complaint.

To be blessed with such friends is to be truly contented with the best of humanity.

  3. The food was excellent. How could I not eat like a starving herbivore when such a delicious meal was offered?

I think everyone wants someone to take care of them–in some way or another. I’m no different, and I certainly enjoy those times when people do just that.
