Hell to pay

Guess what?  Only a short time ago I suffered through on-call hell for work.

It vexes me again this weekend.

Beginning Friday at 10 am and lasting until Monday at noon, I will be chained to availability for no other reason than my next paycheck.

That’s the unpleasant surprise that awaited me when I arrived at the office this morning.

Already I’m scrambling to shift all my plans, such as errands and chores and the like, so I can get through the weekend.

I beg your forgiveness up front if this throws posting plans into chaos.  I had quite a bit to do this weekend, from taking the car in for service to grocery shopping to buying cat food to getting clothes laundered to a litany of other tasks.  Now all of this must be done between now and Thursday evening.

Mind you, I can still run the brief errand or skip out for a wee bit, but I’m expected to respond within one hour to any issue that arises.  That means I lose all flexibility and must ensure the majority of my time remains free of encumbrances.

I’m so ready to quit this job. . .
