Challenge

A male green anole (a.k.a. Carolina anole; Anolis carolinensis) with his dewlap extended (20080613_06520_c.JPG)

[male green anole (a.k.a. Carolina anole; Anolis carolinensis); it took a few minutes for me to realize he was challenging me; once I moved away, he met a lady friend who was hiding in the upper branches of the tree]

  1. I spent August of 2009 in remote Cuba, a portion of my excursion was spent studying the white and brown anole.

These lizards are so majestic and tantalizing in the wild and the males have such magnificent beauty when they display their dewlap and perform push-ups to attract females.
