Such a simple flower. Star-of-Bethlehem (a.k.a. sleepydick, grass lily, nap-at-noon or eleven-o’clock lady; Ornithogalum umbellatum). But exquisite in its simplicity. An inhabitant of those spaces between the shadow and the light. A harbinger of warmer times.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen this kind. It looks like a flower inside a flower that’s inside another flower.
That’s exactly the description that came to my mind, Joy: a flower in a flower in a flower. It’s such a simple concept but it creates a stunning bloom.
That first photo? Absolutely, utterly breathtaking.
Thanks, C!
I agree with Joy. It has a nice contrast on the underside of the petals – the green, edged by white.
I absolutely love that green-and-white pattern, Amber. It’s beautifully distinctive even when the blooms are closed.
