Life List

This is my Life List. Expect more than birds to be included, for the word ‘life’ means more to me than just winged beasts. All organisms listed represent those I have personally witnessed, if not those of whom I have photographs. For more on what this list means to me, read this.

The list is broken into four main sections: fauna (animals), flora (plants), fungi, and first (protoctists). Each of these sections subsequently is broken into logical groups. The sections could be expanded if I deem it necessary.

I will make every attempt to keep the logical organization of this list mirrored to scientific taxonomy. However, due in no small part to the tremendous amount of scientific illiteracy in the world, I will similarly make every attempt to label each section in a way that will make the most sense to those who don’t know what a chordate is, or an isopod, or even an invertebrate.

Special Notes:

Due to the size of the list, each Kingdom is represented by its own dedicated page.
Llinks are to personal multimedia content of that particular species.
Links will be included only if the species in question is the subject of an image or video. Innocent bystanders will be noted if they are distinguishable.
Items without linked content represent those species I have witnessed in the wild but of which I have not posted, located, scanned, or captured presentable images or videos.
Entries listed as “unidentified” are awaiting further investigation (in all my spare time!).
A separate line is included for each unidentified species even if they exist in the same post, photo, or video.
Species will be included only if they are witnessed in a natural habitat. That means no domestic animals and nothing seen in zoos, wildlife parks, or other enslavements.
