For the last two years, on this site and my old one, I've had comment moderation turned on to stem the tide of comment spam. This meant that all comments, regardless of who they came from, had to be approved by me before showing up on the site.
I've decided to loosen my control of comment posting to a certain degree. Rather than having all comments routed to me for approval before posting, here's how it will work.
(1) If you've posted comments before and they were approved, your comments will now post directly and immediately.
(2) Any comment with more than one URI will automatically be held for moderation.
(3) You must provide a name and e-mail address for all comments. Remember that e-mail addresses are only used for comment notifications and are never displayed on the site or revealed to anyone.
I'll still be notified of all comment posts and will continue to moderate them as necessary. I'll keep an eye on whether this causes issues or allows spam to slip through and, if so, I'll re-enable full moderation, but I'm hoping that won't happen.
