We were unable to find a specialist who could see Grendel yesterday, so he spent the afternoon and evening at the vet being hydrated, getting treated for his unending nausea, and trying to stimulate his appetite so he could eat a bit (something he’s not done since Saturday). While the nausea treatment went well and he was fully hydrated (subcutaneously), he only had a few licks of baby food and would eat no more.
We accepted whatever success we could find and brought him home for the evening. The vet was concerned about what was ahead of him today and felt strongly that he should be home for the evening.
He goes to the specialist this morning and will probably not be home again for a few days. I don’t know that for sure, but the vet and I feel that he needs immediate surgery and think the specialist will feel the same.
