Speaking of road trips

Since I already mentioned taking road trips, let me tell you what I have tentatively planned for or am contemplating in the next several weeks.

* Devil’s Sinkhole State Natural Area in Rocksprings, TX to see the sinkhole and to watch the dusk exodus of the colony of millions of bats.

* Austin, TX to see the Congress Avenue Bridge bat colony during its dusk exodus.  This is North America’s largest urban bat colony, possibly even the largest in the world depending on yearly fluctuations in colony size.

* Specific sites in Houston & Galveston, TX to complete research for future writing projects.

* Various sites outside of any cities for telescope time.

* Undirected wanderings at will and whim, unspecified in duration and direction, for getaways.

* Heavener, OK to see the Heavener Runestone, what could well be proof that Columbus “discovered” America five centuries after Vikings from Norway visited the continent.

* Marfa, TX.  There’s too much to see and do there, so I’ll just strongly suggest you visit the site to understand precisely what this town has to offer.  Consider that a trip there will reveal one of the least known secrets about Texas: “Marfa enjoys an international reputation in the art world…”

* The family farm in East Texas.

Again, these are tentative plans and ideas I am entertaining.  It may well be I will visit none of these places and do none of these things.  I doubt that, of course, but it’s possible.

Rest assured there will be no interruption in daily posting, although some days may present nothing more than entries scheduled to appear.  That assumes no surprises.  For privacy reasons, I may not specifically mention when I’m leaving, gone, or have returned, although you will know at some point about every jaunt.
