I don’t know what I did to my back, but I feel like someone hit each of my kidneys with a ball peen hammer. Yet it’s not my kidneys. It’s just that the pain and stiffness radiate out to both sides from the center of my back. With a spinal decompression and mass lateral fusion in 1996, my lumbar spine ain’t what it used to be. It don’t flex no more, it don’t extend no more, and it sure as hell don’t rotate no more. Despite those little hiccups, I’ve not had severe back pain in some time, although I have definitely been hurtin’ from time to time after surgery. Years after. It’s just that I’m not immune to back problems despite surgery to fix a very big one.
Today has just sucked. I was fine when I woke up. Since then, however, it’s gone downhill. Painfully and rapidly, too, I might add. Odd thing, these back issues, and not very predictable or convenient. Bah!
Anyway, I’m rather stiff and am having a bit (read as “a lot”) of difficulty standing up and moving around. It takes several minutes for me to get into an upright position. And then there’s the pain. Not to be redundant, but it hurts like hell! Similar to instances before, it’ll pass, I know. It always does. And I was told I’d have these little problems.
But that don’t make it no better, gosh darnit!
