Here’s something King George said in April 2004:
Now, by the way, any time you hear the United States government talking about wiretap, it requires — a wiretap requires a court order. Nothing has changed, by the way. When we’re talking about chasing down terrorists, we’re talking about getting a court order before we do so. It’s important for our fellow citizens to understand, when you think Patriot Act, constitutional guarantees are in place when it comes to doing what is necessary to protect our homeland, because we value the Constitution.
Here’s what we know about the domestic spying program (now called NSAT&T):
President Bush signed a secret order in 2002 authorizing the National Security Agency to eavesdrop on U.S. citizens and foreign nationals in the United States, despite previous legal prohibitions against such domestic spying…
Let’s do the math, shall we? In 2002, he signed a secret order bypassing the courts altogether and implementing a program whereby the government is now wiretapping all domestic and international communications. In 2004, he said wiretaps required a court order and that nothing in that regard had changed since we value the Constitution and our own laws.
So Clinton gets impeached for getting a blow job. Bush lies to get us to go to war, lies about violating our constitutional rights and America’s laws, lies when he takes the oath of office, and lies, lies, and lies some more, yet we don’t consider impeaching him.
I suppose this is the Republican honor, values, and integrity we hear so much about. Then again, maybe they just don’t like sex but everything else is okeydokey.
