Vocabularium

Here’s a little something I picked up in French class a few decades ago.

cri de coeur (cri de coeur): / KREE duh KUR / (always italicized)
noun

(1) a passionate appeal or outcry, usually anguished (as of protest or entreaty)

[From French cri de coeur meaning “cry of/from (the) heart.”]

Usage: With all their focus on passing laws against gays and fighting equality, most Christians have failed to hear the collective cri de coeur of the homeless, the infirm, the sick, and the hungry.
