Yesterday wound up being a rather hectic, frustrating day.  I had laptop issues until late afternoon, hence the dearth of blog activity.

After many reboots (enough to eat up 85 percent of the battery charge) and tinkering with it most of the day, I finally identified the problem as being twofold: an issue with the prefetch cache and a registry change I made several days ago.  I purged the cache and reversed the change.  Now the laptop is working fine again.

But not until it had frustrated me completely.  By the time I found and resolved both issues and ensured everything was once again functioning normally, I didn’t want to look at a computer anymore, so I walked away from it and did some reading instead.

Perhaps today will be a better day, one less full of bizarre malfunctions and digital hiccups.
