I’m being somewhat less than honest with that title. It is in fact snowing heavily in North Texas. We’re well below freezing, so it’s not melting. But there is one small problem: the surface air is so dry that the heavy snow falling from above is evaporating before it reaches the ground.
If one looks at the radar, we should have blizzard conditions outside. Unfortunately, what little snow can be seen down here where we live consists of teeny tiny dust particles, almost like debris blown from a construction site. And even that is hard to come by. Right now… it looks like a light dust storm. Icy flakes are having a difficult time surviving the fall, I guess.
I had high hopes of another Valentine’s Day snowstorm like we had in 2004. Reality just didn’t match my expectations, however.
Still, the cold temperatures and blustery wind are more than welcome. I only wish we could enjoy the snow tempest that’s raging not too far above us.
