I have two announcements regarding the site.
First, I’ll be performing a software upgrade either today or tomorrow. Unless I run into major issues like I did last time—something that forced me to reverse the upgrade in its entirety—I don’t expect this will noticeable. It does require a plethora of software changes and upgrades to ensure the blog’s various extensions remain compatible with the new core, but I don’t foresee any problems in that regard.
Of course, I said that last time.
Second, I’m moving all of my web servers in the next two or three weeks. In that time, I’ll modify all of the appropriate DNS settings to minimize replication issues once the servers move and IP addresses change. However, there will still be a two or three hour window during which the site will be unavailable in varying degrees. This can’t be helped considering the servers are physically relocating from one data center to another. I will endeavor to minimize the impact by performing the move overnight when there’s the least amount of traffic involved. Stay tuned for more details.
