You must go see this picture of a snowy owl. Stunning!
Yesterday’s Astronomy Picture of the Day shows a beautiful crimson moon at the height of the recent lunar eclipse. What a fantastic photograph. Be sure to see the hi-res version for an even better view.
I know it sounds gross. It really isn’t, though. Check out this gallery of magnified photography showing insect impacts on windshields. It’s actually quite intriguing because the close-up view seems to take the ick factor out of it. BTW, the gallery is in German, so start on the first photo and keep clicking the “WEITER” link to scroll through the images (there are ten). [via The Frontal Cortex]
The first photo in this post begs all sorts of questions I can’t articulate. Athletic? Yep, I’d say so. Out of control? Possibly.
Give me an effing break! “A public high school has suspended three students who disobeyed officials by saying the word ‘vagina’ during a reading from a well-known feminist play.” What play? It was, of course, “The Vagina Monologues.” What kind of stupid country are we living in? I’m so sick of this fundamentalist, right-wing, ignorant, puritanically tyrannical, misguided, daft religious inanity taking place in the U.S. Are we going to start outlawing anatomical words now? Don’t forget to check out Friday Ark #129 throughout the weekend for plenty of beastly fun.
