As of this morning I’ve moved all of my RSS feeds to FeedBurner. The change should be entirely transparent to anyone using the feeds as I’ve redirected them at the server level. If, however, you wish to update your news aggregator to point to the new feed URIs, see the updated Available syndication feeds page for the posts and comments links. I recommend that just to be safe.
I made this change for several reasons. Ease of use, compatibility, reduced server bandwidth, and better stats for those rare times when I decide to look at them…to name a few.
Besides, utilizing FeedBurner gives me a lot more flexibility and control over the feeds. For example, even though I’m using a single feed URI at FeedBurner, that feed is dynamic and will update its content and format depending on the reeder (so a single feed URI provides RSS, ATOM, and RDF feeds automagically). Cool, huh?
Similarly, I can better manage how the feeds work and what they look like using FeedBurner’s administration system. I like that versatility.
As I said, this change should be transparent to everyone. I’m automatically redirecting the original URIs to FeedBurner so current subscribers shouldn’t see any hiccups. Nevertheless, it’s always a good idea to keep your aggregator updated, so I’d recommend changing the subscription URI when you have a chance.
