Why the anti-abortion movement is laughable at best.  It’s precisely what I’ve said all along, and it’s precisely why I think men need to stay out of the discussion altogether.

I wish all people and governments would be this mindful and caring.  “The purple milkweed butterfly winters on the south end of Taiwan and flies over 600 meters of open roadways to reach its breeding ground in the north. Unfortunately, many of the 11,500 butterflies that attempt the journey each hour do not reach their breeding grounds because turbulence generated by fast-moving cars drags them into traffic or under the wheels of oncoming vehicles. As a result, Taiwan will close one lane of a major highway to protect more than a million of these butterflies, which cross the road on their seasonal migration.”

Carnival of the Dogs has your canine fun for today, and it also includes an e-mail sent out by PetSmart regarding the ongoing pet food recall.

This is a really cute picture.  I mean…  How many legs can one chicken have?  And what’s up with the one chick peeking out the front?

We might already be too late to save our closest relative.  “The Orang Utan, one of man’s closest and most enigmatic cousins, could be virtually extinct within five years after it was discovered that the animal’s rainforest habitat is being destroyed even more rapidly than had been predicted. A United Nations report has found that illegal logging and fires have been overtaken as the primary cause of deforestation by a huge expansion of oil palm plantations, which are racing to meet soaring demand from Western food manufacturers and the European Union’s zeal for biofuels.”  Let’s hope we have the courage and conviction to act immediately and decisively to save this species.  And once again take note that it’s the Western world’s consumerism that’s threatening to wipe out yet more of the natural world.  Dare I say it?  I hate humans.
