Next week I begin my first turn with being on call for work.
With a complex environment that I’ve only been working with for about five weeks, I can’t claim I’ll be able to handle the entire week’s follies without requiring assistance from my coworkers. But then, isn’t that what being on a team is about? Well, as long as the team acts like a team, and this one does.
The general shift is 10 am to 10 pm. I’ll continue working my 7 am to 4 pm office shift, but I’ll also have pager duty to worry about until bedtime.
I’d like to say this won’t interfere with blogging. I’d also like to say it won’t interfere with work on Dreamdarkers or spending time with The Kids.
To be quite honest, there’s no way to know.
Sometimes being on call is a menagerie of one issue after another, some of them lasting well beyond the 10 pm duty transfer. Sometimes being on call is a breeze of little problems here and there.
There’s simply no way to know how next week will shape up.
I’ll do my best to keep things moving here. Just keep in mind that a hectic day with action lasting well into the night could hinder me from getting much done—if anything.
As always, The Kids come first, then Dreamdarkers, and then blogging.
So let’s see how it works out.
