I apologize to anyone who’s tried to access the site only to find it hanging at the end of the first post.
The issue came not from my site or server, but instead it came from Technorati’s “view blog reactions” code. That’s been removed. You can bet that’s the last time I use shared code from another site.
Although I saw the issue briefly last evening, it happened only once or twice, so I considered it transient and moved on without giving it another thought. Little did I know it continued right on through this afternoon. Major oops.
While I don’t know what the problem is/was, I really don’t care. This demonstrated how easy it is to cripple my own site when relying on another site to provide even the simplest of embedded functionality.
I may reintroduce the “view blog reactions” link by directly coding the URL into my own XHTML. What I won’t do is rely on that code to be provided by someone else.
So again I apologize for the issue. Live and learn. . .
