From an e-mail I just sent to one of our group directors at work. The message is in reference to our group executive. Brainless idiot and incompetent fool both seem better and more applicable titles, but I'm just a grunt — what do I know?
Since you asked for it, here's the current version of the presentation I've put together. Amazingly, until just two weeks ago, he had no idea my team did as much hands-on work as we do. He was apparently surprised that we do hands-on work and quite a bit of it; one might say he was not happy about that. Maybe I misunderstood his communiqué on the subject [referring to the reorganization of IT that he announced in January].
Honestly, it's so frustrating and infuriating that my first instinct was to call him and let him know precisely how I felt, but that didn't work well last time (he specifically noted that, while he appreciated my honesty and sincerity, I had much to learn about office politics — and he called me naïve). Apparently the open door policy really only applies when you're saying you agree with whatever's going on, regardless of what it is, and you're blind to the negative impact on employees throughout the organization. Someone — someone above him, that is — needs to talk to the employees to realize our company's little perfect world is rapidly falling apart.
