Texans will vote tomorrow on whether or not to amend our constitution in order to forbid same-sex marriage in the state. Sadly, this will pass, perhaps by as much as a 2-1 margin. In this state, actually, it could be higher, but I'm hoping for a better showing of humanity and a little less of the hate and bigotry. This is probably the wrong state in which to hope for such things.
The KKK's party of 14 was met by 3,000 anti-klan, anti-amendment protesters. While that level of support is wonderful, it will not sway the prejudice of mom & pop in Podunk, Texas, who hate them faggots, don't think they should be able to vote, let alone marry, and sincerely think selective prejudice and discrimination is absolutely constitutional. This is Texas; Texans live to hate people who aren't just like them in every way. Radical conservative Christendom is very strong here; we are in the bible belt. The amendment will pass.
Maybe it's time for me to think about moving to a different country — and, no, I didn't mean another state.
