If you have pets (dogs or cats) and feed them any product made by Diamond Pet Foods, you are strongly encouraged to read this recall.  One of their plants apparently made a terrible mistake and produced toxic food that was shipped to many different states.  If you’re unsure about the food you use, check the recall as it contains a list of products affected.  This is a serious matter.  The food is contaminated with aflatoxin.  Symptoms of this toxin “include jaundice combined with lack of appetite, depression, bloody stools, and excessive bleeding.”  Because the toxin significantly impacts the liver, veterinarians can perform liver function tests to identify those animals exposed.
