I found this moth on the patio while it rested (later in the day it went on about its business).  Around 3 inches (7.6 centimeters) wide, it was rather large and absolutely beautiful.  I’m not sure this photo does justice to it.

[Update]: This appears to be a Lunate Zale moth (Zale lunata).
