Some mistakes are kinda cool

Still tinkering with the camera.  Sometimes I don’t remember I’ve been tinkering when I decide to grab a serious shot.  Most of those mistakes end up in the bit bucket since they’re rather indigestible.  Yet some of them, from time to time, offer a visual I hadn’t intended but that is still presentable.  This is just such a case.

I wish I could say with certainty who’s lying behind Grendel.  Because of the quality of the photo, all I can make out is the ear and black coat.  I suspect it’s Kako.  In spite of that normally safe assumption, I can’t be sure.

Peculiar aristocratic titles

I kept this particular doodad for possible inclusion in the weekly Friday quiz lineup, but it occurred to me it didn’t really fit the bill as a quiz.  And then it struck me!  Why not use it for The Kids?  Might be fun, huh?  I thought so, too.

So, here in all their feline glory are the five masters of the universe with their own peculiar aristocratic titles.

Heavy drinker

Grendel has no problem sharing my glass of water.  In fact, none of them have a problem with it.  That’s why I no longer fill the glass.  What you see in this photo is about as much water as I’ll put in a glass.  Because some of the cats drink against the opposite side of the container, a full glass lends itself to them making a mess by splashing water out the other side—and onto anything in the vicinity.

An entertaining note on this: Grendel also tends to stick his nose in the water before he drinks.  He literally touches his face to the surface, almost as if trying to determine if it’s palatable and how far he has to lean in to get to it.  Then again, he also tends to reach in with his paw, scoop up a bit, and lick it off.

Now that I think about it, they all have weird little habits when drinking my water.  My gosh, the house if full of freaks!

Are you in my face?

Before the clouds rolled in a few days ago, I captured this photo of Grendel as he lay by my desk trying to enjoy the sunshine while taking a nap.  As you can see, I inadvertently woke him up when I nestled down in front of him with the camera.
