Who are we talking about again?

Some quotes from a recent speech…

Who can forget your President Clinton’s immoral acts committed in the official Oval office? After that you did not even bring him to account, other than that he ‘made a mistake’, after which everything passed with no punishment.

And…

We call you to be a people of manners, principles, honour, and purity; to reject the immoral acts of fornication, homosexuality…

And finally…

You separate religion from your policies, contradicting the pure nature which affirms Absolute Authority to the Lord and your Creator.

This sounds terribly like a fundamentalist-Christian Republican speech, doesn’t it?  These words have been spoken before, have they not, by our very own elected officials who claim to be conservatives?  This represents at least a portion of the Republican Party’s platform.

Would you be surprised to learn they’re the words of Usama bin Laden?

What many conservatives don’t wish to admit is that he represents a significant number of the same ideologies that drive them: the abolishment of homosexuality and the subjugation of any who believe such persons deserve equal rights, the absolute trust in and practice of militarism, reversing women’s rights such that they no longer have control over their own bodies, pushing religion into schools, the limitation and control of free speech, killing those who disagree and the free practice of capital punishment, the kidnapping and torture of dissidents, the use of vaporous criteria for the detainment and arrest of citizens and foreign subjects, and the blatant and continuing violation of civil liberties with the intention of curtailing them.  And that’s just the top of the list…
