I can’t tell you how much I love it when it gets dark early. As Daylight Saving Time ended this morning, I welcomed the opportunity for early dusk that comes only during the winter. Since cold weather is my favorite weather, the shorter days and longer nights, especially as becomes apparent when we move back to Standard Time, is the sign I watch for to tell me cold is on its way. Imagine my thrill when 6:00 P.M. rolled around today and the sun was already dropping below the western horizon. Ah, this is what I like best.
That says nothing for gaining an hour overnight. Imagine having the power to force the relentless to relent. Only with that thought in mind can you begin to comprehend what it’s like to experience a reversal in time, to gain an hour, to see a temporal retreat. If only we truly had that level of control over time’s incessant onward march.
