‘What does it mean, this sudden and unexpected change?’

I say ’tweren’t but a short time ago when first I spoke of Kako‘s sudden transformation with one white whisker, yet today mine eyes set upon more than a few of these new developments, some on one side and some on the other.

Again I ask: “What does it mean, this sudden and unexpected change?”

Has the aged affliction of so many species visited upon her some premature transformation?

I daren’t speak that which my heart and mind believe, that too early dost age and childhood affliction visit upon her this manifestation.

Yet betwixt rescue and now I see this marvelously troubling revolution, yet only nine years hence did I fall in love with Daddy’s Girl, a magnificent demonstration of beguilement wherein I lost myself.

Why now do you change so?  Why now do you present to me this fascinating duplicity of the one who purrs for no other, and this rapid substitution of what has been with what now is?

I know you ain’t lookin’ at my man!

I chanced upon Grendel and Kako huddled together in their typical lover’s embrace.  With them resting in the middle of the bed on a sunny afternoon, I knelt down and leaned near them to snap a few photos.

As you can see, Kako immediately took umbrage.  I had invaded their space and had pushed myself into what apparently had been a moment meant only for the two of them and no other.

“I know you ain’t looking at my man!” she exclaimed, her eyes wide and fixed upon me with a predator’s steely gaze.  “I got two words for you, Daddy: PUH!  LEASE!  I know you a sissy boy and all, but you got to find you a man elsewhere, ’cause he’s all mine!”

I assure you she wouldn’t hesitate for a moment to gouge my eyes out and pick her teeth with my bones, at least when it comes to Grendel, her man.

So I backed away slowly. . .

Nine years and counting

At 52 will you look as good?

Today marks a very important milestone for Kako and Kazon.  They are each nine years old.

That is, they’re nine human years old.  The feline equivalent is 52 years old.

Both are remarkably beautiful, magnificent examples of superior predators aging with grace while continuing to demonstrate agility and reflexes well beyond anything we mere mortals could imagine.

Let me wish a very happy birthday to The Twins!  To celebrate, they’re enjoying treats, ample play, new toys, and extra attention (as if that was possible!).

One white whisker

What does it mean, this sudden and unexpected change?  To have reached in but a few days nine human years of age with nary a difference in aesthetics—until now.

To you, my lass, oh Kako, Daddy’s girl, I direct this simple question: What do you tell me with this one white whisker?  Never before have your feline antennae been other than shades of charcoal, yet within these past few weeks you introduced a new twist.  One white whisker.

What does it mean?

Can passing fifty be that significant?  Does stepping o’er the hilltop and beginning the downhill walk in time mean so much that you should now present to me this dramatic change in appearance?

I fear, my only girl.  Somehow this means something… must mean something.

But what?

One white whisker. . .
