It’s groomin’ time

Vazra begged and begged for me to take him to get his nails done.  Every refined feline needs a manicure and pedicure now and again, right?

But I told him money was tight and he’d have to tend to it himself.

So he did.

And he was not happy when he found out it was on video, and he was even less happy when he found out I intended to post it.

Now I have to go sit in the corner because I’m being punished.  As usual.

Oh, the answer is yes if you really must know.  I’m always fascinated by the simplest of things just as I’m fascinated by the most complex of things.  Whether it’s one of The Kids sleeping or grooming, a grain of sand on the beach or a pebble on the shore, a bird in the tree, an insect on the ground, two galaxies colliding hundreds of light years away, a black hole gobbling up planets in a solar system we’ll never reach, or a wisp of cloud in the sky—not to mention a trillion other things both ordinary and exotic—the cosmos fascinates me no matter what form it takes, no matter how banal or bizarre its display, no matter how mundane or magnificent its form.  So sue me.

If only you were this good looking

Vazra is such a photogenic cat.  Sometimes I think he knows full well how attractive he is, what with the lion’s mane and all that plush, fine, black-as-midnight hair.  Oh, and the large, greedy, voracious eyes that seem to consume everything in sight.

Yes, he knows he’s better looking than the clumsy ape who feeds him.  For that matter, he knows he’s better looking than all the clumsy apes stumbling around this planet.

Special effects

I kept snapping photos of Vazra as he lay on the floor.  Because his hair is so long, he usually looks like a fluffy mop with eyes.  But these photos kept showing a weird unfocused area in front and beneath him.  It was as though he was resting atop a cushion of hot air.

I couldn’t for the life of me determine what was causing this intriguing special effect in the pictures.  At least until I looked at the lens.

Kazon had been “helping” me take pictures a little earlier.  At some point, he took a close look at the front of the camera.  I hadn’t realized it when it happened, but apparently he’d touched his nose to the lens and left me with a nice wet smudge covering the bottom half of it.

Do you think I could market this as a new technology to special effects companies?  I bet it costs less than CGI.
